About

I graduated with a BA in Audio Engineering and Music Technology from the Evergreen State College in 2013. I began teaching myself to code during undergrad in pursuit of my interest in embedded electronics and microcontrollers for use in musical instrument and interface design. I subsequently graduated with an MFA in Electronic Music and Recording from Mills College in 2015, after which I worked as a Hardware Engineer for BeBop Sensors and Keith McMillen Instruments.

Following my time at BeBop, I completed Hackbright Academy’s Software Engineering Fellowship, a three month intensive program which taught the fundamentals of web development. For my final project, I built a playable web application of the ANS Synthesizer using Python and JavaScript. Using this foundation, I worked to further build my skills and ultimately accepted a position at Facebook in 2018.

Prior to my resignation in March of 2022, I worked as a Production Engineer at Facebook focusing on traffic management, network automation, and host level configuration. Through this work I learned Site Reliability Engineering best practices and had the opportunity to work on and solve problems at a global scale.

I have been teaching workshops on audio engineering, electronics, animation, and circuit bending on and off for the past 10 years. I believe in the power of well written concise documentation which enables people to use technology to whichever creative ends they desire. Using technology to create immersive and engaging experiences remains core to my creative and professional practice.
